In 1999 Jason co- founded Mamma Says, a food manufacturing company that produced biscotti and cookies in a plant they built in upstate NY. Working insurance by night and plant by day, within a few years, the company was able to establish a national footprint. The company ultimately entered a strategic alliance with with Kellogg’s to grow the brand in 2003. In 2005, the business was sold to NONNIS Inc., a portfolio brand of Windpoint Partners for 4x revenue.
In 2005, Jason co-founded World Gourmet Marketing, creating better-for-you snacks under the flagship brand Sensible Portions, which included snacks such as nationally recognized Veggie Straws. Under his management, the company achieved double-digit growth and became one of the fastest rising snack food industry purveyors. The company grew to just under $100 million in 4 years.
In 2010, Sensible Portions brand to The Hain Celestial Group, one of the leading providers of organic and natural foods. While at Hain Celestial, Jason served as President of the Club and Snack Division.
In 2011, Jason co-founded Rickland Orchards, the first shelf stable Greek yogurt brand. In October 2013, after sales soared to $50 million in just 18 months, the company was sold to B&G Foods, a public company. In the same year Jason Co-Founded and created That’s How We Roll LLC that owned the brand Mrs. Thinsters Cookies.
In 2013, Jason and team partnered with the founders of SkinnyPop Popcorn an early stage better for you play on popcorn. In 2014 after enormous profitable growth the majority of the company was sold. Soon after new leadership came in they took the company public with Goldman Sachs for $1.6 billion in shareholder value and was acquired by Hershey’s in 2018.
In 2014 Mrs. Thinsters was acquired by a Private Equity Firm and Jason remained a long term board member until they sold in 2021 to Hain Celestial.
In January 2015, Jason co-founded Halen Brands, Inc., which quickly funded Chef’s Cut Real Jerky, Core Water, and acquired OWYN in partnership with their sponsor.
In 2018 Halen Brands co -created Real Food From The Ground Up, a new innovative better for you snack food company developed alongside to other serial entrepreneurs.
In 2022 Halen Brands after a successful 7 year run Halen exited its personal ownership in its remaining brands and closed the fund.
Jason is now working with a few serial entrepreneurs on new projects / investing in killer founders and acting like a coach/ mentor to many in the industry.
