Rethink Food

Rethink Food is a nonprofit based in New York City on a mission to build a more sustainable and equitable food system. Co-founded by Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park, we bridge the gap between excess food and communities impacted by food insecurity. Through partnerships with a network of small, local restaurants and food businesses across the city, Rethink Food helps prepare and deliver nutritious, culturally-celebrated meals. Additionally, Rethink Food operates its own Sustainable Community Kitchen in the heart of Greenwich Village, where ingredients donated from restaurants and other food purveyors are transformed into nutritious meals for distribution. These meals are provided to a network of community-based organizations, including pantries, churches and shelters, ensuring that families receive support where it is most needed. Today, Rethink Food proudly delivers over 200,000 meals per week to local communities. Since its founding in 2017, the nonprofit has delivered over 26 million meals, directed more than $111 million to small local businesses and repurposed over 2.5 million pounds of excess food to create nutritious meals.
